Folk duo Red Tail Ring hosts California musicians for two concerts in Fennville, Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, MI -- Kalamazoo-based roots duo Red Tail Ring will host California musicians and body-percussionists Evie Ladin and Keith Terry for two shared performances in Southwest Michigan.
On Sunday, April 5, they will perform in Fennville at the Salt of the Earth, 114 E. Main St., and on Wednesday, April 8, they bring their show to First Congregational Church, 345 W. Michigan Ave.
Red Tail Ring has released three albums that share traditional tunes and their original compositions, which combine haunting harmonies with the artistry of Laurel Premo and Michael Beauchamp on fiddle, guitar, banjo, mandolin and jawharp.
Since 2009, Red Tail Ring has traveled increasingly farther in their musical ramblings -- performing throughout the Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast, as well as touring in Denmark and Germany. When they're off the road, the duo enjoys playing for community square dances in Kalamazoo.
The polyrhythmic heat of Evie Ladin's clawhammer banjo, voice and rhythmic dance have been heard on "A Prairie Home Companion," "Celtic Connections" and Lincoln Center. Keith Terry, bass, body music, percussion, vocals, is a renowned percussionist/rhythm dancer and the founder of the International Body Music Festival. A pioneer in contemporary Body Music, Keith has appeared alongside Bobby McFerrin, Robin Williams, Linda Tillery, Kenny Endo, Turtle Island Quartet and many more.
"You don't often hear words like 'traditional,' and 'authentic' paired with 'innovative' and 'unique,' but Evie Ladin & Keith Terry have brought them together brilliantly and the result is truly a high point in new old-time music," said Folkworks.org.
Tickets for the Salt of the Earth show are $15. Tickets for First Congregational are $10-$5. For more information, visit www.redtailring.com.
